Oracle Developer

A public educational institution is continuously working on innovation and digitalization.
- The Oracle landscape forms the backbone of a large part of their business-critical applications.
- They are undergoing a phased digital transition where Oracle systems are modernized, integrated with new platforms, and gradually replaced, without compromising reliability.
What you do
- Responsible for the development, management, and optimization of Oracle databases and applications.
- Work in multidisciplinary Scrum teams and tackle complex issues at the intersection of database engineering, application development, and system integration.
- Act as a sparring partner and mentor for junior colleagues.
- Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database components (PL/SQL, stored procedures, packages, triggers).
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and architectural improvements.
- Advise the ICT architect on Oracle architecture adjustments and contribute to technical specifications within projects.
- Coordinate and monitor Oracle development activities and functionally guide junior Oracle developers.
- Contribute to the migration and modernization of existing Oracle applications.
- Contribute to integrations between Oracle systems and modern platforms via APIs and middleware.
- Follow relevant market developments and trends within the Oracle domain and proactively propose improvements to management.
- Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum team with architects, developers, and testers.
- Perform second-line incident and problem resolution in production environments.
- Actively contribute to technical standards, code quality, code reviews, and CI/CD processes within the team.
What they ask
- HBO+ (higher professional education) work and thinking level, preferably a degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
- Minimum 7 years of recent and demonstrable experience as an Oracle developer in a complex IT environment.
- In-depth knowledge of PL/SQL, Oracle Database (19c or higher), SQL tuning, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or comparable CI/CD tooling.
- Knowledge of data modeling and experience with ERD tools.
- Affinity with modern integration architecture (REST APIs, messaging, middleware).
- Agile mindset and experience working in Scrum teams.
- Oracle certification is a plus.
