The IT department of an international organization supports approximately 850 employees worldwide and is fully cloud-based on Microsoft 365 and Azure. The environment is technically interesting and organizationally challenging, with multiple time zones, cultures, and local laws and regulations. The IT Operations team, responsible for Infrastructure, Support, and Projects, is internationally composed and works closely together.
Work is project-based, following an agile approach with sprints, sprint planning, and clear milestones. Decisions and improvements are often made in joint consultation between regions. As a Modern Workplace Specialist, you will play a central role in shaping the workplace strategy for a growing, international organization.
What you do
- Content owner of the Microsoft 365 and Azure workplace environment
- Predominantly project-based work (approximately 80% of the time) in sprints following an agile methodology
- Rolling out new tools, policy changes, and continuously developing the workplace environment
- Third-line incident follow-up, self-study, and exploring new technologies (remaining 20%)
- Identifying areas for improvement (better, safer, more scalable), translating them into project proposals, and taking initiative
- Management and development of Microsoft 365 (Intune, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams) within a project context
- Participate in sprint planning, sprint reviews
- Lead the rollout of new tools, updates, and policy changes
- Co-design and monitor identity & access management policy (Purview/DLP, LAPS)
- Translate user needs into structural, project-based improvements
- Actively collaborate with international IT colleagues on shared standards
- Create and maintain documentation and work instructions (in English)
- Actively participate in and sometimes lead broader IT projects within the organization
- Act as an escalation point and point of contact for complex, third-line workplace-related incidents
- Patch and lifecycle management (update rings and feature update policy)
- Research new technologies, tools, and best practices
What they ask
- HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level, IT direction
- Minimum 7 years of experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID management, partly in a senior or independent role
- Experience with or knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), sprints, and milestone-driven projects
- Extensive experience with Intune and modern device management, including setting up policies and standards
- Solid knowledge of security principles within a modern workplace environment (Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust principles)
- Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear language
- Demonstrable experience in taking initiative and leading (or co-leading) improvement projects
- Experience in an international, multi-region environment is a plus
- Good command of Dutch and English
- Proactive, solution-oriented attitude, strong team player who dares to take initiative independently
- Possession of the following certifications is a plus: MD-102, SC-300, AZ-104
