Permit Officer VTH

South HollandHybrid36 hours/week<3months

As a permit officer, you help facilitate initiatives from residents and entrepreneurs within a government organization. You assess all applications within the framework of the Environmental Act, ranging from simple extensions to larger housing projects and area developments.

What you do

  • You are responsible for processing all applications and concept applications within the framework of the Environmental Act. This varies from small and standard applications to extensive and politically sensitive projects.
  • You substantively review building plans based on relevant laws and regulations, including the environmental plan, the Environmental Act, the Decree on Building Works for the Living Environment, and municipal policy. A careful, service-oriented, and solution-focused approach is central.
  • You assess whether plans comply spatially, technically, and procedurally and clearly document findings.
  • You have a proactive, advisory role towards residents, businesses, and colleagues and are the first point of contact for the applicant: you explain, guide, monitor progress, and communicate clearly and customer-focused.
  • You actively seek opportunities to enable initiatives and ensure that decision-making proceeds carefully and transparently.
  • You guide dossiers from concept to decision and, where necessary, liaise with internal and external advisors, such as urban planners, spatial planners, lawyers, traffic experts, supervisors, and the Spatial Quality Committee.
  • You contribute to the further development of processes within the Permits, Supervision & Enforcement (VTH) team, to work in an increasingly customer-oriented and efficient manner.

What they ask

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written (Dutch C1).
  • HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level, preferably in a legal, construction, or spatial planning direction.
  • Familiar with the Environmental Act; relevant work experience in building plan assessment and environmental permits within a municipal organization is a plus.
  • A completed ABW1 diploma. ABW-2 is a plus, or you are willing to obtain it.
  • Politically and administratively sensitive, accurate, and flexible; you can weigh interests and maintain direction in dynamic situations.
  • A true connector who can collaborate well and contributes to a collegial, service-oriented work environment.
