Forensic therapeutic assistant

Within a forensic psychiatric center, you contribute to a safer society by guiding and supporting vulnerable detainees with psychiatric problems. You provide daily support and structure for these detainees. Together with an expert team, you ensure safety, stability, and human-centered guidance.

What you do

  • Guide detained patients in daily activities such as sports, library visits, or appointments. You help patients to bring structure to their day for stability.
  • Ensure safety in the unit for colleagues, yourself, and patients. You remain calm in crisis situations and act appropriately.
  • Mentorship and multidisciplinary collaboration with therapists and other colleagues to draw up and implement treatment plans. You advise on specific approaches based on progress.
  • Actively contribute to diagnostics and guidance by discussing patient progress with the team and optimizing guidance, for example by implementing new methodologies.
  • As a new employee, you will follow a Basic Professional Training to master all processes within a forensic psychiatric center.

What they ask

  • MBO-3 or higher with care experience, or currently pursuing MBO-4 in care and welfare. If you have MBO-3, you are willing to obtain MBO-4 in Personal Social Counselor (PMBZ) during your work.
  • Demonstrable work experience with special target groups such as psychiatry/mental health care, care for the disabled, youth care, social shelter, addiction care, or elderly care in combination with psychiatry.
  • Empathy: you understand the backgrounds and situations of this target group.
  • A strong personality: you are balanced, calm, and remain professional in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to work irregular shifts within a secure setting.
