For a major international player in the energy sector, we are looking for a Business Analyst / Functional Analyst to strengthen a Data team working on a central platform for metering and energy allocation data. This platform plays a key role in several B2B processes, including forecasting, allocation, balancing, closing, invoicing, and reporting. The assignment takes place in an international environment with strategic projects. Occasional travel may be required as part of certain projects.
What you will do. You will be the interface between Business teams, Data Owners, Data Engineers, application teams, and external stakeholders. You will be involved in functional analysis, data quality, production support, and continuous improvement of the platform. Your main responsibilities include:
- Gathering and analyzing business needs and translating them into functional specifications and data rules
- Documenting data flows, interfaces, dependencies, and business rules
- Collaborating with Data Engineers and Architects on the evolution of the platform
- Participating in the implementation and validation of developments, particularly on a data processing platform
- Analyzing production incidents and performing root cause analyses
- Defining and executing test and validation scenarios, particularly using SQL
- Implementing and maintaining quality controls, reconciliation, and data consistency
- Participating in data flow monitoring and Run / Production Support activities
- Ensuring traceability and documentation of business rules, processes
- Facilitating workshops with business and IT teams and contributing to continuous process improvement
Profile
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, Data Analyst, or Application Support Analyst in a data-oriented environment
- Experience in the energy sector is essential
- Strong SQL skills: data analysis, joins, aggregations, reconciliations, and anomaly detection
- Experience in incident analysis, root cause analysis, testing, and data validation
- Good understanding of data flows, batch processing, dependencies, and failure scenarios
- Experience with Data Quality processes, controls
- Experience in an Agile environment
- Good ability to translate business needs into actionable functional and technical specifications
- Fluent professional English
- Fluent French or Dutch
Desired skills. Experience or knowledge of:
- Metering, allocation, forecasting, balancing, or invoicing in energy
- The local energy market and its key players
- Cloud platforms, particularly storage and query services
- Data processing platforms and job monitoring
- DevOps tools or similar tools for backlog and incident management
- Data Platform concepts: Bronze / Silver / Gold, orchestration, lineage, monitoring
- Data Quality / Governance tools
- Generative AI
