You calculate air volumes and pressure differences for complex installations in healthcare environments, such as isolation rooms. You advise on the best solutions for air handling units and ensure that designs can be installed quickly and without errors. The team carries out projects in hospitals and other healthcare environments, including renovations, modernizations, sustainability, and new construction.
You will work on various projects within the healthcare sector. A mechanical engineer is sought who thinks proactively, looks ahead, and delivers robust designs. You are the technical linchpin, involved in the entire project, from design to delivery. You serve as a sparring partner for the project leader and a technical point of contact for those in charge of execution. Together with the team, you ensure thorough preparation so that installations on site can be laid out quickly and flawlessly.
Projects in healthcare institutions require extra attention, given the high demands on air quality, temperature, and pressure hierarchy in operating rooms and laboratories, among others. You contribute to the planning of work execution, taking into account the continuity of care.
What you do
- Design mechanical installations for projects in hospitals and healthcare buildings, such as air treatment, cooling, heating, and sanitary facilities
- Draw design models, request data from stakeholders, and perform design calculations, such as heat and cooling load, air volumes, and pipe dimensioning
- Build, together with the team, a central information model with all data for design, construction
- Advise the project leader on design changes and their consequences
- Answer technical questions from the execution team and devise solutions
- Contribute to thinking about sustainability, such as heat recovery and heat pumps, which play an increasingly important role in designs
- Guide the project through to completion
What they ask
- MBO 4 or HBO (vocational or higher professional education) working and thinking level in mechanical engineering or installation technology
- Experience as a mechanical engineer, preferably in utility construction
- Conceptual thinking ability and the capacity to thoroughly substantiate design choices
- Good communication skills, both oral and written, in Dutch
- Curiosity about developments within the project team and on the construction site
Preferences.
- Knowledge of air treatment in operating rooms and other critical areas
- Knowledge of legionella prevention and drinking water installations
- Experience working in a BIM environment and with relevant design and calculation software
- Experience with projects in hospitals or other critical environments (experience in healthcare is a plus, but can also be gained internally)
