As a music therapist, you help clients with emotional, social, behavioral, or cognitive problems. At the indication of the primary therapist, your help is requested for, for example, reducing behavioral problems, making contact, or building self-confidence. You translate the music space into daily life.
What you do
- You are part of an enthusiastic professional group of therapists in the Eastern region.
- You work closely with fellow professional therapists in the fields of drama, visual arts, and PMT.
- At the indication of the primary therapist, you perform observation and music diagnostics and conduct music therapy for individuals and groups.
- You collaborate with musical colleagues who make an important contribution to the clients' daily program through relaxation and activation.
- You contribute ideas on how music within the organization can help find an opening/approach with clients, from which trust and belief in their own abilities can grow.
Profile
- You hold a HBO conservatory degree in music therapy or a specialization within professional therapy training and have at least 3 years of experience in this field.
- Experience and knowledge in forensic care or care in a coercive setting.
- Both negotiation skills and steadfastness in dealing with clients.
- Experience, knowledge, and affinity with clients with a mild intellectual disability who exhibit misunderstood and risky behavior and psychiatric disorders.
- Ability to work independently and be open to giving and receiving feedback.
- A dose of creativity, courage, and enthusiasm to use music as a therapeutic tool in contact, diagnosis, and treatment.
