You are responsible for the daily management and monitoring of the correct execution of works within the set budget, in consultation with the leading official of the client. In addition, you may be asked to take on site supervision tasks, where you check compliance with legislation, regulations, and tender specifications on site.
What you will do.
- Participate in site meetings and consultation meetings with various stakeholders (contractor, road authority, police) to prepare and monitor the execution of works
- Provide assistance with provisional and final acceptance
- Monitor quality by interpreting test reports, checking technical specifications, execution procedures, and calculation notes, and advising on the drafting and follow-up of official reports
- Monitor the budget by checking progress statements and settlement proposals from the contractor, and drafting change orders/addenda
- Monitor planning by following the execution schedule and checking settlement proposals
- Advise on unexpected problems, formulate solution proposals, and draw up adapted plans (using CAD)
- Daily presence on site
- Inform and communicate about progress and difficulties on site
- Control the supply of deliveries, equipment, and building materials
- Monitor the quality of execution in accordance with specifications, plans, standard specifications, and best practices
- Be present during tests on site
- Maintain the site diary
What they ask for.
- At least a diploma as an industrial or civil engineer (preferably civil engineering) with 10 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree/equivalent with 10 years of relevant experience, or at least 20 years of demonstrable relevant experience
- Technical knowledge, mainly concerning road construction and civil engineering
- Familiarity with monitoring a construction site according to public procurement legislation and common standard specifications
- Maturity and independence to autonomously lead a complex construction site in good understanding with the (sub)contractor(s)
- Good communication skills to make clear agreements with all involved parties (local authorities, administrations, utility companies)
- Knowledge of MS Office (or equivalent)
Practical
- Willingness to work exceptionally at night and on weekends.
