Policy Advisor Debt Assistance

More and more residents are facing financial concerns. Municipalities are therefore fully committed to prevention, early detection, and accessible debt assistance. This requires policy that aligns with practice and professionals who can translate societal developments into concrete solutions. As a policy advisor, you will advise management, develop future-oriented policy, and contribute to a service that truly makes a difference for residents.

You will work for a municipal organization where your expertise will be directly valuable. Within this organization, extensive work is being done on the further development of debt assistance. The ambition is clear: to support residents faster and better, prevent financial problems as much as possible, and continuously improve services. You will play a central role as a content and strategic advisor for the college and the municipal council.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues in poverty policy, minimum policy, participation, and the approach to the childcare allowance affair. Through your knowledge of policy and implementation, you will be able to bring together different interests and contribute to solutions that work in practice.

What you do

  • Preparing and drafting a new Debt Assistance policy framework
  • Updating policy rules and implementation frameworks
  • Implementing components of the Basic Debt Assistance Service
  • Further developing the approach for young people and entrepreneurs with financial concerns
  • Providing a substantive contribution to a project on telephone early warning
  • Advising the college, management, and the program director on policy developments
  • Translating national laws and regulations into local policy
  • Supporting aldermen within local, regional, and national networks
  • Answering council questions and guiding administrative decision-making
  • Providing substantive input for budgets, annual plans, and annual accounts
  • Advising on the further setup and development of municipal debt assistance

What they ask You are a policy advisor who works independently, easily maintains an overview, and knows how to connect different interests. You feel at home in a political-administrative environment and know how to create support for your advice. In addition, you possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a policy advisor or policy officer within a municipal organization
  • Knowledge of debt assistance and relevant laws and regulations
  • Experience with policy development and administrative advising
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Persuasiveness and the ability to connect different parties
  • An independent, proactive, and results-oriented work attitude

Practical

  • A fixed-term employment contract
  • A salary commensurate with your knowledge and experience, between € 4,000 – € 6,100
  • An Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 17.05%
