Mechanical Project Engineer

For a long-term technical project within an industrial environment, an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer is sought. In this role, you are responsible for the technical and organizational follow-up of projects, from the initial concept phase through to effective realization and delivery. You monitor technical quality, scope, timing, and financial objectives, and form an important link between engineering, production, maintenance, contractors, and external partners.

What you will do.

  • You translate project objectives into a clear and achievable project scope.
  • You develop technical documents such as specifications, tender books, bills of quantities, and measurement states, among other things, in preparation for budget estimates, tenders, and orders.
  • You compare and evaluate offers and prepare offer comparisons/bid tabs.
  • You draw up project plans and actively monitor progress and milestones.
  • You identify technical and project-related risks and guide the necessary risk analyses.
  • You independently gather the required technical information within engineering, the plant, and from external parties.
  • You organize and lead project meetings and ensure clear follow-up and reporting of agreements made.
  • You coordinate projects of varying scope and technical complexity and monitor their progress.
  • You evaluate technical documents from contractors, including execution plans, technical data sheets, calculations, and invoices.
  • During the execution phase, you monitor the work in collaboration with the site management. In case of technical or organizational problems, you take initiative and contribute to a practical solution.
  • You work closely with production, maintenance, engineering, suppliers, contractors, and technical advisors.
  • You report clearly on the status, any deviations, risks, and actions within the project.

Profile

  • You hold a degree in Industrial Engineering or Civil Engineering in Electromechanics.
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project engineering, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • You have broad experience with project management aspects such as scope management, budget monitoring, planning, negotiations, and stakeholder management.
  • You communicate fluently in Dutch and English, both orally and in writing.
  • You are strong in reporting technical information clearly and concisely, both in writing, orally, and visually.
  • You are analytical and independent, and know how to convert technical issues into concrete solutions.
  • You show initiative, possess a healthy dose of perseverance, and actively think about improvements and new possibilities.

Technical knowledge. Experience or knowledge of the following areas is a strong asset:

  • AutoCAD 2D
  • MS Project
  • SAP
  • Process and industrial equipment such as heat exchangers, tanks, filters, and related installations
  • Piping
  • Steel constructions and civil works
  • PED, Machinery Directive
  • SIL and ATEX
  • Hydro- and pyro-processes
