Automation within a controlled environment requires more than just technical knowledge. It involves installations that must meet strict requirements regarding safety, quality, conformity, and traceability. As an Automation Engineer, you will be part of a specialized expertise department and will monitor automation and instrumentation within both new and existing installations. You will be involved from the study phase through testing, delivery, and any modifications.
Your role primarily involves technically understanding, assessing, and monitoring the solutions implemented by external parties.
What you will do. Automation & technical follow-up.
- You monitor changes to existing installations and the realization of new installations and buildings.
- You assess automation and instrumentation systems within projects and existing installations.
- You work with and evaluate Siemens PLC and SCADA systems.
- You apply your technical knowledge in areas such as industrial networks, frequency converters, and instrumentation.
- You read and interpret technical documents such as P&IDs and electrical diagrams.
- You monitor the technical solutions of external parties and assess whether they meet the stipulated requirements.
- You ensure that changes and technical solutions are executed in accordance with applicable specifications and safety requirements.
Project & site follow-up.
- You organize and/or participate in periodic follow-up meetings with project teams, technical services, maintenance, site supervisors, and external partners.
- You monitor the progress of technical files and projects and adjust where necessary.
- You are regularly present at the various sites and installations to monitor the technical execution.
- You co-develop test and inspection plans and monitor the associated test documents and control moments.
- You work closely with the project teams and site supervisors responsible for technical execution.
Documentation & reporting.
- You document technical findings, decisions, and changes in a clear and structured manner.
- You report the results of follow-up meetings, controls, and tests.
- You ensure correct administrative and documentary follow-up of technical files.
- You ensure that information, changes, and decisions are correctly recorded and remain traceable.
Technical collaboration.
- You act as a technical discussion partner between different disciplines and stakeholders.
- You switch smoothly between technical experts, project teams, maintenance, technical services, and external parties.
- You ensure that technical information is exchanged correctly and understandably.
Profile
- You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Sciences or equivalent technical experience.
- You have a strong technical foundation in automation, electricity, instrumentation, or a related discipline.
- You have experience with or good knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems, preferably Siemens.
- You understand how industrial automation systems function and can critically assess technical solutions.
- You can read and interpret technical documentation such as P&IDs and electrical diagrams.
- Knowledge of industrial networks, frequency converters, and instrumentation is a significant asset.
- Technical insight and the ability to understand, control, and monitor programming and automation solutions are more important than writing code yourself.
- You have a broad, general technical interest and feel comfortable in an environment with various technical disciplines.
- You work systematically, independently, and structured.
- You have an eye for detail and attach great importance to quality, safety, and correct documentation.
- You are a strong communicator and can collaborate smoothly with both internal teams and external partners.
- You are willing to be regularly present at sites and installations.
- You are willing to undergo the required medical screening for frequent presence in a controlled zone.
