A care organization is looking for a caregiver for a residential location to help residents give direction to their lives with structure and attention. The residential location accommodates 12 residents with non-congenital brain injury (NAH) and/or a physical disability, ranging in age from 40 to 85 years. Residents have experienced a life before and after the injury, which sometimes involves grief and the search for balance and meaning.
The environment is structured and safe, allowing residents to maintain as much control as possible over their lives. You will work in a team with caregivers, lead caregivers, and nurses in an open and engaged atmosphere. Together, you ensure that residents feel safe, seen, and well cared for, with attention to daily life and more complex care needs.
What you do
As a caregiver at this care organization, your tasks are diverse:
- Care and support: in the morning, afternoon, and evening, both in care and guidance.
- Listening, caring, helping someone on their way, or simply being there.
- Thinking in possibilities, creating opportunities, and reducing barriers in the client's life.
- Guiding individuals with limitations: providing physical support (ADL, reserved actions) and mental/emotional support.
- Observing and responding to needs: administering medication, wound care, assisting with (technological) aids.
- Creating atmosphere: ensuring a pleasant and cozy home environment for clients.
What they ask You see the person behind the behavior and can switch between proximity and distance. You remain calm under pressure and adapt communication and behavior to the client. You look for opportunities, discuss them, and dare to seize them. You contribute ideas on how to better organize care.
- A completed care education at least at MBO level 3 (e.g., Social Care).
- Willingness to work in varying shifts (no sleep/night shifts required).
- Affinity with people with NAH and/or complex care needs.
- Experience with ADL and care.
- Eagerness to learn (learning reserved actions if necessary).
- Reflective ability, good communication skills, and courage.
- Humor, perseverance, and an open mind.
