Information Management Officer

A government organization, part of a larger defense organization, is actively developing and focusing on information-driven work. To carry out operational tasks safely and effectively, reliable and discoverable information is essential. You will be the link between business operations and the necessary information, processes, and IT. You will work independently within a team of information managers, business consultants, data analysts, and digitalization experts.

You will directly contribute to a well-organized and future-proof information management system within operational units.

What you will do.

  • You will instruct and advise employees and commanders of operational units on creating, storing, using, sharing, archiving, and destroying information, ensuring it remains current, reliable, and compliant.
  • You will identify the information needs of operational units and investigate how these needs contribute to improved daily operations.
  • You will research the impact of new or modified information systems on business operations and coordinate their implementation and any changes.
  • You will identify bottlenecks in the quality, reliability, and discoverability of information and ensure improvements are made.
  • You will initiate and monitor IM improvement measures to enhance the quality, reliability, and discoverability of information for operational unit employees.
  • You will participate in project and working groups that improve information processing for operational units and contribute to the implementation of new procedures and services.
  • You will support accreditation processes for information systems.
  • You will oversee compliance with data protection regulations within operational units.
  • You will translate technological innovations into practical possibilities to improve business processes.

What they ask

  • Minimum HBO diploma (higher professional education), preferably in Information Management, Business Administration, Business Informatics, Business IT & Management, or a comparable ICT education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a similar role.
  • Affinity with information management and/or business operations.
  • Knowledge of administrative organization, process management, and information management.
  • Experience with and insight into the latest ICT possibilities and market developments.
  • Ability to analyze business processes and translate corresponding information needs into concrete advice and applications for information provision.
  • Enjoy working in a team/project context and have an affinity with both systems and people.
  • Awareness of laws and regulations regarding information security and AVG (GDPR).
  • Excellent command of the Dutch language, both written and spoken.
  • Competencies: initiative, communication, analysis, planning and organizing, customer-oriented.

Practical

  • A mandatory security screening and reference check (upon request) are part of the selection procedure.
  • You must take the oath or promise for civilian employees of the organization.
  • You must have Dutch nationality.
  • The elaboration and presentation of a case study may be part of the application procedure.
