Occupational Physician Practice Assistant
Within a health center of a government organization, you are looking for a dynamic position where you can work independently and in a team, and where your knowledge of absenteeism truly matters. You are a driven professional who has a firm grasp of the social aspects of absenteeism.
What you will do. You provide care and guidance to employees absent due to illness, independently or through task delegation from an occupational physician, by:
- Assessing and handling incoming requests for absenteeism guidance
- Interpreting the request for help from supervisors and assessing whether there is a need to directly involve the occupational physician based on the severity of the situation and the (operational) circumstances
- Taking an occupational history and inventorying the limitations caused by the illness for one's own work
- Providing preliminary advice to absent employees, supervisors, and case managers
- Discussing the preliminary problem analysis with the absent employee
- Holding follow-up discussions with absent employees
- Drafting concept feedback to employers and absent employees
You support the absenteeism guidance process by:
- Assigning reintegration files to the occupational physician(s) and coordinating with them
- Making initial and follow-up appointments for the consultation hours of the occupational physician practice assistant and the occupational physician
- Recording medical developments, interventions, and advice to the absent employee and employer, as well as reintegration in the medical file
- Preparing the assessment of work capacity by the occupational physician, by identifying the limitations the employee experiences in their work due to the illness
- Planning (follow-up) appointments with one of the doctors of the medical care team
- Preparing and consulting with the responsible (military) doctor of the social medical team
You provide administrative support by:
- Drawing up consent forms
- Requesting medical information
- Processing documents in the medical file
- Collecting and sending medical information for the disability benefit application in consultation and with the employee's consent
- Maintaining the central mailbox of occupational health in consultation with the occupational physicians
You relieve the absent employee during the reintegration process by:
- Collaborating and coordinating with other healthcare professionals, such as the occupational physician, general practitioner, ARBO nurse, POH-S, POH-GGZ, physiotherapist, and case manager if indicated
- Acting as the central point in the multidisciplinary network of various healthcare providers
- Potentially performing biometric research such as blood pressure measurements
Profile
- HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level
- Diploma as an occupational physician practice assistant (through a recognized training) or in training to become one, or willing to follow it
- Experience working with relevant medical systems and reintegration tools
- Experience working with Word, Excel
- Some experience in social-medical guidance and/or case management
- Knowledge and insight into relevant laws and regulations and guidelines, various ICT systems, and the occupational and operational environment
- In possession of a B driving license
- Flexible attitude
