In this role, you work through conversation, relationship, and creativity, without the option of a closed ward. You guide girls aged 12 to 18 who are at risk of becoming, or have already become, victims of sexual violence or exploitation, within an open group setting. This requires a specific approach and expertise.
What you do
- Stimulate girls with complex behavioral issues and their parents/guardians to take control of their own lives.
- Daily upbringing, guidance, care, stimulation, and support for girls with serious behavioral problems.
- Help them acquire new skills, develop a positive self-image, and increase self-reliance.
- Take responsibility for a stimulating living environment in the group, tailored to the specific needs and a specific youth care methodology.
- Provide structure and guidance throughout the day, from waking up in the morning to going to bed in the evening.
In Practice.
- Guide the girls in their daily structure (waking up, showering, breakfast, going to school) with creative motivation.
- Conduct regular individual conversations as a mentor, set goals, and write perspective plans.
- Maintain contact with authorities, youth protectors, neighborhood teams, and other involved parties.
- Daily record observations, special circumstances, and progress in the client file.
- Guide the girls through therapies and group activities (e.g., horse coaching, drama therapy, theme evenings on resilience, sexuality, and boundaries).
- Work irregular shifts, including sleep-in, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Your team. You work in a treatment team of permanent colleagues, managed by a core team consisting of your work supervisor, department head, and behavioral scientist. There is also collaboration with other disciplines such as specialized therapists and educational professionals. The location is small-scale and homely, and is in transition where open groups are playing an increasingly central role. You work in an environment that is constantly evolving.
