You join a communications team within an organization that develops high-tech systems for the semiconductor industry. The role is a maternity leave cover. The team explains the organization's technology and products in an accessible, educational way, mainly to an external audience. The aim is to raise the organization's profile and make the chip industry easier to understand. You also write for media, journalists, and public officials worldwide, and your work indirectly supports employer branding.
You report to the Team Lead for technical content.
What you do
- Write fast-turnaround social content, mostly for various social media platforms, with the social team.
- Develop and publish website pages for new products, in line with brand and editorial standards.
- Write longer pieces, such as scripts and voice-overs for videos and animations, and review visuals for technical accuracy and clarity.
- Review technology content for accuracy, context, consistent messaging, and readability.
- Help develop messaging for new products and strategic technology topics.
- Work with subject-matter experts, product teams, and communications colleagues across a large, matrixed organization to gather, verify, and shape content.
What you bring.
- Experience as a technology or science writer, ideally in a corporate tech environment.
- Experience at a large organization is preferred.
- A proven track record of explaining complex technical topics to a non-expert audience across channels such as social media, web, and video.
- A degree in physics, engineering, science, or communications is a plus, but not required; writing ability counts for more. A technical background followed by a move into communications is especially interesting.
- Technical writers from documentation, procedures, or manuals are welcome to apply even without social media or scriptwriting experience. You'll need to show strong writing samples, because this role is more creative.
