About the work environment. You will work within the acute psychiatry department of a healthcare organization. Acute psychiatry offers diagnosis, treatment, protection, and support to clients and their immediate living environment during a crisis. The goal is for the client to regain control over their own functioning. Acute care can be quickly scaled up and down.
The team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, resident doctors, nursing specialists, physician assistants, nurses, pedagogical counselors, trainees, and activity counselors. Short-term crisis treatments are offered (a few days to 4 weeks). Care is provided in a consistent professional, recovery-oriented, and efficient manner to clients, family, and loved ones. Acute psychiatric care plays a crucial role within specialized mental healthcare in the region.
The teams are available 24/7 for people experiencing a psychiatric crisis and needing quick help. Within the acute care chain, various forms of care are used, such as the crisis service, Intensive Home Treatment (IHT), and clinical departments like High Intensive Care (HIC) and Medium Care (MC). Together, these teams ensure rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment, with the principle: care as much as possible in the client's own living environment and admission when necessary.
Intensive collaboration takes place with general practitioners, hospitals, hospitals, police, ambulance services, and municipalities. Acute psychiatry thus forms an important link in the regional healthcare network. Further development is ongoing in recovery-oriented network psychiatry: care that does not only take place within the institution but is organized in collaboration with clients, their loved ones, and partners in the region.
Projects are underway focusing on client-centered work, expanding outpatient care, and continuously improving internal and external collaboration.
