Creative Strategist Concept Creative

North HollandHybridHours negotiable<3months

This is a freelance collaboration with an event agency, focused on safeguarding and elevating creativity, with a strong focus on the sales and pitch phase. Creativity is one of the key reasons clients choose this agency. The goal is to understand what a client is truly trying to achieve and turn that into a concept that feels fresh, relevant, memorable, and distinctive.

What you will do.

  • You will become one of the creative forces behind the most important pitches.
  • You will work closely with Sales, Project Management, and Production from the moment a brief comes in.
  • You will help turn business objectives into strong creative ideas and challenge the obvious.
  • You will ask whether an idea is genuinely distinctive, whether it connects back to the client’s objectives, and whether the full guest journey feels coherent.
  • Sometimes you’ll develop the big idea yourself. Sometimes you’ll help a team turn a promising thought into a much stronger concept.
  • The goal is to create ideas that make a client think: "This is exactly what we need from both a strategic, commercial, and guest point of view, and we wouldn’t have come up with this ourselves."

Responsibilities.

  • Creative direction in pitches:
  • Join kick-offs for strategically important pitches.
  • Translate client objectives, brand values, and audience insights into creative territories.
  • Develop strong event themes, concepts, and creative narratives.
  • Create the central “big idea” behind a proposal.
  • Challenge teams to move beyond predictable event solutions.
  • Make sure concepts are relevant to the brief.
  • Turn ideas into experiences:
  • Translate a concept into the full guest journey.
  • Develop ideas for: opening moments, content formats, entertainment, activations, hospitality, food & beverage, styling, stage moments, awards, networking, surprise moments, digital and interactive experiences.
  • Make sure every element supports the overall creative concept.
  • Creative storytelling:
  • Help structure pitches so the idea unfolds as a compelling story.
  • Develop strong creative copy, naming, and headlines.
  • Work with designers to turn the creative direction into visually powerful proposals.
  • Help Sales present ideas in a way that creates excitement and emotional buy-in.
  • Protect the agency's creative standard:
  • Review key pitches before they go to clients.
  • Challenge concepts that feel generic, expected, or disconnected.
  • Build creative principles and frameworks that help the wider team create stronger work.
  • Bring new trends, inspiration, formats, and ideas into the agency.
  • Help build a culture where creativity is everyone’s responsibility.

  • Strong conceptual thinking.
  • Able to translate strategy into ideas.
  • Strong sense of storytelling and presentation.
  • Understands brands and corporates, and knows how to work within and creatively stretch brand guidelines.
  • Comfortable working on both large strategic concepts and smaller creative details.
  • Able to quickly generate multiple creative directions from an open brief.
  • Strong visual awareness.
  • Comfortable challenging senior team members when an idea isn’t strong enough.
  • Collaborative rather than precious about ideas.
  • Commercially aware: you understand that an idea also has to be feasible, pitchable, and sellable.
