A government organization is looking for an experienced KNA archaeologist to strengthen its archaeology field team.
- You will make a direct contribution to the knowledge of a city and the surrounding region.
- The role offers variety between preparation, fieldwork, data processing, and reporting.
- You will have the opportunity to apply your expertise, take responsibility, and contribute with initiative to professional archaeological research.
What you will do.
- Drafting Programs of Requirements and Plans of Approach.
- Meticulous preparation of archaeological fieldwork.
- Performing archaeological fieldwork at various locations.
- Independently digitally surveying with GPS or RTS from Leica.
- Processing field data in Archeolink and creating maps in ArcGIS Pro.
- Developing research results into clear and usable archaeological basic reports.
- Ensuring correct, complete, and sustainable deposition of finds and documentation.
- Monitoring the quality and progress of your activities throughout the archaeological process.
Profile
- You work independently where possible and actively seek collaboration with fellow archaeologists, volunteers, and other involved professionals.
- You are an experienced archaeologist who works carefully and considers quality self-evident.
- You maintain an overview, take responsibility, and know what is needed for archaeological research to proceed well before, during, and after fieldwork.
- You communicate clearly, work pleasantly with others, and feel at home in a practice where craftsmanship and societal value come together.
- Close collaboration with fellow archaeologists and volunteers.
- Coordination with clients and other professionals within the municipal organization.
- Room to share knowledge, ask questions, and achieve the best results together.
- Contribute to an inclusive work environment where ideas are shared and initiative is taken.
What they ask
- Completed education in European archaeology.
- KNA archaeologist actor status.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with the entire archaeological process.
- Demonstrable experience in urban archaeology and archaeological research on sandy soils (must be evident from CV).
- Agreement with secondment conditions.
Wishes.
- Experience with project-based work.
- Proficiency in Dutch at a minimum C1 level, both oral and written.
- Driving license B.
- Experience with GPS/RTS, Archeolink, and ArcGIS Pro.
- CV provided with 1 relevant reference or these can be provided upon request.
