A transition to occupational medicine does not mean leaving the medical profession behind. You will continue to apply your medical knowledge and conduct consultations, but you will take a broader view of what is at play. What does someone's health mean for their functioning at work? Which factors influence recovery? And what is needed to return to work responsibly? You will work regular hours, conduct scheduled consultations, and be given space to further develop yourself within a new medical field.
What you will do.
- Conduct consultations with employees who are absent from work or at risk of absence.
- Map out their medical situation and capacity for work.
- Discuss possibilities for staying at work or returning responsibly.
- Advise on recovery, return to work, and appropriate follow-up steps, considering the medical complaint, work situation, and personal circumstances.
- Collaborate with experienced occupational physicians and other professionals within occupational health services.
- Receive guidance to get to know the profession well and gain increasing independence as you gain experience.
What they ask
- Completed medical degree.
- Valid BIG registration (Dutch equivalent).
- Strong communication skills and enjoy conducting many conversations.
- Good listening skills and careful consideration of various interests.
- Interest in looking beyond just the medical complaint.
- Eager to learn and a desire to further develop as a physician.
- Experience in occupational medicine is not required; curiosity about a different way of working as a physician and openness to a new field are more important.
Practical
- Salary between €5,500 and €6,800 gross per month, depending on experience.
- Regular working hours and room for flexibility.
- 25 vacation days + 6 ATV days for a full-time position.
