Drinking Water Technician

As a drinking water technician, you ensure that customers have access to tasty and healthy tap water. You are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of drinking water pipes, drinking water connections, and fire hydrants. A drinking water company manages an extensive network of pipes and connections. To keep this infrastructure in top condition, it relies on energetic drinking water technicians.

What you do

  • Maintain and repair water pipes, drinking water connections, and fire hydrants.
  • Install new water pipes and drinking water connections.
  • Receive new work orders, plans, and instructions via a tablet.
  • Set up site signaling, break up paving, and dig trenches and work pits.
  • Respond to residents' questions in a customer-friendly manner or check with a colleague/supervisor.
  • After the work and inspection by the supervisor, restore the paving to its original state.
  • Organize your work autonomously and responsibly, adjusting planning for unexpected problems such as water leaks.
  • Work closely with a fixed team of fellow technicians.

Your profile.

  • Driving license B.
  • Understand and speak fluent Dutch for direct customer contact.
  • Be a citizen of the European Economic Area and be able to present a clean criminal record extract.
  • Be handy, have technical insight, and be motivated to get started. A specific diploma or specialized knowledge is not required; training and guidance are provided.
  • Be physically fit, as the work always takes place outdoors and regularly involves heavier physical labor.
  • Be willing to be on call 1 week out of every 8 weeks.

Practical

  • Fixed-term contract of 6 months.
