Contract Advisor

A government organization manages a fleet of approximately 100 specialized vessels for waterway maintenance, military transport, and fisheries inspection. As a contract advisor, you ensure that maintenance, fuel supply, and maritime services are contractually well-regulated for this fleet. You will work within a department responsible for programs, projects, and maintenance.

What you will do.

• You will advise on contract strategy and translate project and maintenance assignments into clear contract requirements.
• You will monitor the execution of contracts regarding quality, planning, progress, and legality.
• You will implement contract management measures and controls, and carefully document findings.
• You will coordinate with contractors, project teams, and legal colleagues regarding changes, risks, and deviations.
• You will identify bottlenecks or situations not explicitly included in the contract and propose appropriate solutions within the contractual framework.
• You will monitor the coherence between different contracts and prevent overlaps or gaps.
• You will contribute to the further professionalization and standardization of contract management within the maritime organization.

What they ask

• Minimum of a higher professional education (hbo) diploma in a relevant field.
• Experience with managing agreements, risks, and performance.
• Experience working in situations with conflicting interests between parties and finding workable solutions, even under time pressure.

Preferences.

• Knowledge of common contract forms, procurement legislation, and risk management.
• Experience with contract management in projects, preferably within construction and maintenance.
• Experience working within a public or complex organization with multiple stakeholders and decision lines.
