Are you an outdoor person with a solid pedagogical foundation and a passion for outdoor sports, technology, and outdoor living? Do you find it interesting to learn how to use nature and physical activity to restore the foundation in traumatized children? And are you responsible enough to run (after a thorough training period) a family home and farm for a few weeks a year? This position is also open to a BBL HBO student with an already completed, relevant MBO-4 preliminary education.
A small-scale family home farm offers specialized and professional youth care from a warm and committed team. The team is compact and close-knit: we work with 7 supervisors and are professionally supported by 2 colleagues for the quality manual and administration. We work extensively with insecurely attached children and young people with trauma. Our vision is deeply rooted in outdoor pedagogy, active learning, and experiential learning.
Our commitment is focused on restoring trust and basic safety by working together outdoors. We work from the inside out: starting with the basics – the primal brain – to gradually restore the child's body awareness, self-confidence, and resilience. Given the current composition of our team and our specific target group, our preference is for a strong male role model.
What you do
You are broadly deployable within various branches of youth care (BSO+ 9+ and intensive day care 14+):
- Group work: You intensively run the groups together with your colleagues. Together, you provide the peace, structure, and safety these young people need.
- Therapeutic outdoor and farm work: You actively engage in farm work (animal care and yard) and methodically use nature, space, and physical challenges to build the basic safety and attachment of the young people.
- Active guidance: You activate the young people around a tipi, cook outdoors, set up active game assignments, and go canoeing. You also undertake projects with them in the workshop (technology and woodworking).
- Family Home & Farm Observation: After a thorough and careful training period, you bear full responsibility for the daily operations of the family home during holidays (1 to 2 weeks per year).
What they ask
- You have a completed, relevant MBO-4 pedagogical education (e.g., Specialized Pedagogical Worker, Personal Supervisor, or Sport and Movement with care specialization).
- You already have an HBO thinking level OR you are motivated to start a BBL HBO education (e.g., Social Work).
- You have the basic skills to run a group with your colleagues and are not afraid of physical farm work.
- Great interest in or experience with trauma-sensitive work and attachment issues.
- A broad interest in outdoor pedagogy; you want to learn about the neurobiological impact of movement in nature.
- You are skilled in outdoor sports, water activities, and technology; you can 'work with your hands' and convey this with calm, patience, and safety.
- In possession of a B driving license.
