As an HBO Personal Counselor at a social organization, you are a connector who brings participants, their environment, and colleagues together to work on recovery and self-reliance. You are a team player who also dares to make independent choices when the situation demands it. The shelter facility is a 24-hour transit/residential facility for 45 homeless men and women.
Clients are admitted with an MO or IFZO indication from detention, day and night shelter, or the street. They are characterized by complex problems in the field of psychiatry and/or psychosocial issues (e.g., former homelessness) and/or a (mild) intellectual disability and/or (severe) addiction problems and/or (severe) behavioral problems and/or mild somatic problems, requiring more intensive support. The approach focuses on self-reliance.
Guidance, stimulation, and joint exploration of possibilities in various areas of life are offered in a homely environment that provides structure, peace, warmth, and conviviality.
What you do
- Guide and treat participants of all ages who have difficulty maintaining themselves in their living environment
- Inventory clients' and their network's needs and requests for help
- Draw up, implement, and adjust treatment plans
- Provide guidance, advice, and shelter, including in crisis situations
- Mediate conflicts and contribute to a safe and stimulating environment
- Organize individual and group activities that promote well-being and development
- Collaborate intensively with colleagues, agencies, and organizations to provide appropriate care

What they ask
- A completed HBO education (e.g., SPH, Social Work, or Pedagogy)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with clients with multi-problem issues (psychiatry, addiction, or mild intellectual disability)
- Knowledge of socio-scientific theories, systems theories
- Experience in drawing up and implementing treatment plans
- Strong communicative and written skills
- Stress resistance and improvisation skills, especially in crisis situations
- You are a Christian (Catholic, Protestant, etc.) and can articulate what that means to you
