Emergency Team Veterinarian

- A top referral center providing a well-established veterinary internship program.
- Patients are referred for advanced diagnostic imaging services, including ultrasound, radiography, endoscopy, and CT scanning, as well as for surgery, minimally invasive procedures, cardiology, orthopaedics, dentistry, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and oncology.
- Round-the-clock emergency care is provided for cases ranging from minor emergencies to complex critical conditions.
- The clinic offers comprehensive hospitalization and intensive care facilities.
- The clinic is looking for a dedicated team leader with a vision for the future of emergency veterinary medicine, passionate about teaching and emergency medicine.
What you do
- Day-to-day leadership of the Emergency Clinic, including developing guidelines to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Continued education and elevation of medical quality.
- Teaching, inspiring, and challenging the next generation of emergency vets and nurses.
- Acting as one of the main points of contact for emergency veterinary nurses, veterinarians, surgeons, and vet interns.
- Regularly reviewing hospitalized and emergency patients together with the treating vet.
- Organizing a quarterly face-to-face meeting for the entire emergency team, in partnership with the Clinic Manager.
- Maintaining a regular presence in the clinic during weekend and/or night shifts to ensure questions and concerns can be addressed promptly.
- Actively working as an Emergency Veterinarian.
- Periodically on-call to provide coaching and support to vets navigating complicated emergency cases.
- Partnering with other hospital leadership and Talent Acquisition Partner to participate in job interviews relevant to the emergency department.
- Refining existing emergency protocols, and developing new procedures as needed.
- Ensuring that emergency protocols are translated into training programs and helping to facilitate these trainings.
- Partnership with hospital leadership in reviewing patient safety reports and enacting needed protocol or procedural changes.
- Critical evaluation of veterinary intern skills and theoretical competencies.
- Reviewing reports sent to referring veterinarians and maintaining strong relationships with the referring veterinary network.
What they ask
- A veterinarian who can take ownership of several key focus areas and bring them together effectively.
- European Veterinary Specialists in Emergency and Critical Care preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years clinical emergency experience is required.
- Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English are required.
