Contract Engineer

As a Contract Engineer for signaling projects, you play a key role in the management and follow-up of strategic contracts within an innovative and stimulating technical environment. You contribute to large-scale projects within an organization focused on building and modernizing railway lines. The team is the daily operational point of contact between internal clients and suppliers. Your mission is to ensure the follow-up of ongoing strategic contracts and to initiate new contracts for signaling projects.

What you do

For ongoing contracts:

  • You negotiate and follow up on contract changes (Change Requests) and ensure their execution.
  • You ensure the follow-up of contracts necessary for an important railway safety program (ETCS), thereby contributing to its implementation. ETCS (European Train Control System) is a large-scale European project aimed at improving railway safety through an automatic safety system.
  • You actively collaborate with technical staff and are responsible for the technical and budgetary aspects of the contract.
  • In collaboration with administrative staff, you prepare orders for materials, services, and works, and monitor deliveries within the framework of the contracts.
  • You regularly consult with the logistics and/or Procurement department managers to ensure the smooth running of the ordering and delivery process.
  • You work closely with Contract Managers from the Procurement department to identify and implement improvements in contract processes.
  • You ensure reporting via tools such as EPM and SAP.

For new contracts:

  • You coordinate and analyze the drafting of the technical and administrative parts of new strategic contracts.
  • You define the scope of new contracts based on the projects to be realized.
  • Once the new contracts have been notified, you handle them in the same way as the ongoing contracts.

Profile

Technical competencies:

  • You hold a degree in Industrial or Civil Engineering, or are a lawyer with a strong affinity for technology.
  • You have a perfect command of Dutch or French (both oral and written) and a functional knowledge of the second language.
  • A basic knowledge of technical English terminology is also required.
  • An interest in contractual and technical aspects is essential.
  • Ideally, you have experience in managing complex contracts or in negotiations within technical or industrial environments.
  • The following qualities are valued: knowledge of public procurement, experience in sales and/or drafting offers, and knowledge of suppliers.

  • You listen actively and know how to negotiate agreements.
  • You have strong analytical and synthetic abilities.
