Advisor common agricultural policy

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the foundation for policy in rural areas. As a CAP advisor, you play an important role in working on current policy, preparing for the new CAP period, and further developing agricultural nature management. You focus on the high-level administrative and governance aspects of these dossiers.

• Ensuring coordination and information exchange between provinces.
• Speaking on behalf of provinces in consultations with partners.
• Translating operational questions into administrative choices.
• Considering possible decision-making routes and creatively devising solutions for administrative proposals.
• Maintaining control over ongoing processes.
• Supporting provincial portfolio holders in their input into CAP governance, including administrative and official consultations.
• Drafting annotations, decision notes, and advice for high-level administrative and official consultations.
• Preparing and coordinating interprovincial alignment.
• Advising within a project team for agricultural nature management and contributing to the elaboration of proposals.
• Fulfilling the role of secretary of an interprovincial CAP policy advisory group and preparing monthly meetings.
• Leading the provincial commitment to the new CAP period and chairing a core group for the future of CAP.

You collaborate with colleagues within your team and other internal departments of the organization, as well as with colleagues from provinces, societal partners, water boards, municipalities, a CAP coordinating organization, and at a more strategic level with a national ministry. Where necessary, there is collaboration with colleagues in Brussels.

What they ask

• University level of work and thinking.
• Minimum of five years of demonstrable experience as a policy advisor in the physical domain, with or for a government organization.
• Minimum of five years of experience in organizing complex, inter-administrative processes, particularly in collaboration with a national ministry, water boards, and public-private partners.
• Knowledge and experience with agriculture, agricultural nature management, and other challenges in rural areas.
• Ability to connect economics, ecology, law, and management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferences.

• Experience with the CAP, preferably from 2021.

• Salary indication: minimum € 4,993.42 and maximum € 7,057.40 gross per month.
• Individual choice budget (IKB) of 22.37%, including holiday pay and year-end bonus.
