Deputy Head of Care

Care is a crucial part of life in a correctional facility. Detainees regularly face various somatic and psychological problems, for which adequate care is of great importance. As deputy head of care, you will lead, together with the head of care, the professionals involved in this. You are responsible for the continuous improvement of quality and collaboration with external partners.

What you do

  • Lead healthcare professionals, ensure a well-functioning schedule, and conduct staff appraisals.
  • Be a leader in creating good, positive, and open collaboration and respond to trends and developments.
  • Be aware of the complex environment in which colleagues operate daily and ensure social safety.
  • Monitor the quality of care in the institution, identify bottlenecks, areas for improvement, and opportunities.
  • Advise the head of care and proactively address improvement points.
  • Develop and manage policies, frameworks, protocols, and procedures.
  • Ensure connection with other disciplines within the institution, such as living units and the security department, with attention to medication safety.
  • Understand different interests and deal with them effectively with positivity and organizational sensitivity.
  • Organize and maintain collaboration with external partners, such as hospitals.

Profile

The Care department consists of a dedicated team of judicial nurses, administrative care staff, a dental assistant, GZ and basic psychologists, and a social psychiatric nurse. The deputy head leads approximately 10 colleagues, including judicial nurses, administrative care staff, and the dental assistant. There is collaboration with a permanent general practitioner, psychiatrist, dentist, and physiotherapists who work on-site.

You will be part of the middle management of the institution, consisting of operational managers. Your direct supervisor is the head of care.

Practical

  • Employment type: Fixed-term employment contract with the prospect of an indefinite period (with a possible probationary period of up to 1 month).
  • Salary level: Scale 09.
  • Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 16.5% of the gross annual salary.
