Compulsory Education Officer

The assignment involves handling and continuing compulsory education and absenteeism cases within a specialized team. The deployment is for replacement due to illness or pregnancy. The team is part of the Social Domain department of a government organization and collaborates with schools, young people, parents/guardians, youth care, and other chain partners.
What you do
- Investigate and handle reports of school absenteeism
- Conduct conversations with young people, parents/guardians, schools, and other involved parties
- Independently handle assigned complex compulsory education and absenteeism cases
- Assess unauthorized school absenteeism and determine and implement appropriate follow-up steps within the applicable frameworks
- Perform tasks in the field of supervision and enforcement of the Compulsory Education Act
- Draw up Halt official reports and official reports, if the case gives cause for it
- Handle appeals for exemptions
- Guide and handle cases concerning (imminent) school dropouts
- Maintain contacts and collaborate with schools, youth care, and other relevant chain partners
- Register and keep track of cases in JVS
- Participate in relevant work and case meetings for implementation
- Answer substantive questions from starting colleagues where necessary
What they ask
- Minimum of 3 years demonstrable work experience in the past 8 years as a compulsory education officer within a government organization
- Demonstrable work experience with independently handling complex compulsory education and absenteeism cases, including conducting conversations with young people, parents/guardians
- Demonstrable work experience with supervision and enforcement of the Compulsory Education Act, including assessing unauthorized school absenteeism and implementing appropriate follow-up steps
- Demonstrable work experience with the guidance and approach of (imminent) school dropouts
Preferences.
- Demonstrable work experience with independently handling complex compulsory education and absenteeism cases
- Demonstrable work experience with enforcement of the Compulsory Education Act and the implementation and handling of appropriate enforcement measures
- Demonstrable work experience with handling absenteeism reports, drawing up Halt Official Reports and/or Official Reports, and handling appeals for exemptions
- Demonstrable work experience with collaboration around compulsory education and school absenteeism, including with schools, youth care, and other relevant chain partners
- Demonstrable work experience in the past 2 years with the JVS system
- Demonstrable completed education at a minimum of HBO bachelor level, in the direction of social work, Social Pedagogical Assistance (SPH), Social Work and Services (MWD) or similar
