This assignment involves guiding vulnerable individuals in a temporary shelter facility during the winter months. You provide a safe and warm place for people dealing with complex issues such as addiction, psychiatric disorders, and debt. The shelter is open 24/7 and accommodates 80 to 120 people.
What you do
- Be visibly present in the group and act as the first point of contact.
- Conduct conversations, offer a listening ear, and assist with practical questions.
- Motivate participants towards appropriate care.
- Maintain an overview of the group, signal changes in behavior or health.
- Address participants regarding house rules when necessary and de-escalate tensions.
- Ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
- Help residents keep their bedrooms clean.
- Support the distribution of meals, linen, and hygiene articles.
- Provide information about social services.
- Report incidents and coordinate with colleagues, security, volunteers, and chain partners.
- Take initiative and organize activities with volunteers (sports, music, creative workshops).
Profile
- MBO-4 diploma (Dutch vocational education level 4) in social work or a comparable field.
- Experience with the target group of homeless people, addiction, and/or psychiatry.
- Available for irregular shifts and ad-hoc deployment.
- Stand firm, be communicatively skilled, and a true team player.
- Genuine commitment and a heart for vulnerable people.
- Christian identity (Catholic, Protestant, etc.) and able to explain what this means to you.
Practical
- Work in day shifts (07:00-15:30) and evening shifts (15:00-23:30).
- After the winter period, there are possibilities for deployment at other locations within the organization.
