A national research institute is preparing its data management and infrastructure for the future within a multi-year change program. This program focuses on streamlining the data management infrastructure, policy, datasets, and institutional culture regarding data and metadata. This includes classification, curation, and policy around research data, so that researchers can better manage, describe, and reuse their data.
The goal is to achieve better managed data, increased reuse, enhanced collaboration, and higher scientific output.
What you will do.
- You will be the recognizable face of data management for researchers.
- You will introduce yourself to (new) employees and join relevant meetings.
- You will contribute to the creation of established procedures, manuals, and templates.
- You will individually support researchers in drafting data management plans, cleaning datasets, or reviewing metadata records step-by-step.
- Before publication, you will check the quality of datasets in relevant repositories: metadata accuracy, structural compliance, documentation completeness, and alignment with the original DMP.
- You will provide training and explanations during introductions for new employees, department meetings, or working groups.
- Through your efforts, you will contribute to more efficient data usage that benefits research.
- You will collaborate with other stakeholders within this project.

- Completed MBO, HBO education, or comparable work and thinking level acquired through relevant experience.
- Preference for a background in Ecology, Biology, Life-Science, or Information Science.
- Accuracy, strong communication skills, and customer-orientation.
- Clear communication in both Dutch and English.
- Service-oriented, patient, and proactive attitude.
Profile
- Experience with FAIR data, Open Science, or research data management.
- Familiarity with relevant repositories.
- Previous experience with DMP-tooling or an electronic lab journal.
- Affinity with ecological data and relevant metadata standards.
Practical
- You will work within the Research Support Office (RSO) of the research institution.
- The RSO is a small and diverse team that supports researchers in data management, grant support, scientific information provision, AI, and policy development.
- You will work directly with the strategic data steward and the head of RSO.
- Ample room for personal initiative, fresh ideas, and professional development.
