Maritime Traffic Controller
The waterways are among the busiest in the world. To keep them safe and accessible, a government organization is looking for a maritime traffic controller. From a traffic control center, you will manage maritime traffic from behind multiple screens. Maritime traffic continues throughout the year, as does this work. The busyness varies depending on conditions such as weather, traffic intensity on the water, and incidents like collisions.
What you will do.
- Ensure that ships find their way safely and smoothly.
- Help skippers navigate safely through busy junctions in the waterway network.
- Supervise, guide shipping, and intervene when necessary.
Your team. The teams at the traffic control centers have varying compositions. You will never work alone, and every employee works 24/7 on a continuous shift schedule. The atmosphere is down-to-earth, direct, and collegial: we help each other and collectively maintain safety and clarity.
What they ask
- Completed MBO level 4 education (intermediate vocational education).
- Driving license B.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Willingness to follow an intensive, full-time training program to become a Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) operator and to obtain this qualification within 1 year.
