As a Project Controller, you are responsible for the financial management, control, and accountability of various national and international programs and projects. You will work within a Business Operations team and have extensive contact with project and program managers. The client is a socially driven organization that works nationally and internationally for equal rights, inclusion, and social change. They collaborate with partners in the Netherlands and various countries, including in Africa and Asia.
The organization works with substantial grant and program funds.
What you do
- Control, assess, and report on financial project accountability
- Assess financial reports from international partners
- Monitor the correct application of relevant regulations within projects and grant accountability
- Prepare and control grant accountability
- Prepare, execute, and/or supervise audits
- Set up, manage, and improve time and project administration
- Monitor and analyze balance sheet accounts related to projects
- Advise on the financial setup and control of national and international projects
- Identify and initiate improvements within project administration
- Answer financial questions from colleagues and maintain contact with program managers
- Support the preparation of annual accounts and budgets
- Provide support for other financial administration tasks where necessary
What they ask
- Completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in a financial field (e.g., HEAO, Finance & Control or SPD)
- Extensive and recent experience as a Project Controller or in a similar financial control function
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with relevant grant regulations
- Demonstrable experience with audits and financial accountability for grants
- Extensive experience with project and grant administrations
- Experience with assessing financial reports and project accountability
- Preferably experience with AFAS and Power BI
- Good command of both Dutch and English
- Strong analytical skills, proactive
- Ability to quickly distinguish main from side issues and ask questions when necessary
- Accustomed to working independently within an existing organization and administration
- Easily able to switch between financial colleagues and project and program managers
