Building Service Employee Instructor
As a Building Service Employee Instructor, you prepare students for a career in the maintenance sector. You provide inspiring lessons in a practical hall for level 2 students (both full-time and work-study programs).
What you do
- Guide students in independently carrying out tasks and maintenance work on buildings.
- Provide lessons covering all disciplines of the profession: installation and electrical engineering, carpentry.
- Challenge students, guide them in groups and individually, and help them achieve their diploma.
- Actively contribute during team meetings.
- Develop new lesson plans.
- Assess exams.
- Supervise projects.
What they ask
- Relevant, completed (HBO) education in construction, installation, and/or electrical engineering. HBO working and thinking level can be demonstrated through an online assessment.
- Broad practical experience in installation, electrical engineering, and/or carpentry, with knowledge of the future professional field.
- A second-degree teaching qualification or the motivation to obtain it through a 1.5-year PDG (Pedagogical Didactic Certificate) trajectory.
- Some experience in guiding and coaching young people (e.g., interns, in an association and/or sports team).
Practical
The application procedure consists of an introductory interview and a shadowing day. If you do not have a completed HBO diploma, a selective online assessment is a fixed part of the application procedure. This assessment tests HBO working and thinking level and competencies relevant to the role of an instructor, such as craftsmanship, collaboration, coaching guidance, creating a challenging and safe learning environment, and an educational perspective.
