Tester

• Analyze user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and functional designs from a testability and risk perspective.
• Actively participate in refinements, planning, reviews, and other team moments.
• Prepare, maintain, and execute functional test cases and test scenarios.
• Perform functional tests, regression tests, end-to-end tests, exploratory tests, and, where necessary, acceptance tests.
• Quickly and carefully handle ad hoc test questions, one-off checks, and risk-oriented testing activities.
• Prepare, execute, and support user acceptance tests (if applicable).
• Document, analyze, discuss, and retest findings.
• Identify quality risks, dependencies, missing scenarios, and unclear acceptance criteria.
• Determine which scenarios need to be tested manually and which may be suitable for automation.
• Collaborate with product owners, analysts, modelers, developers, test automation engineers, administrators, users, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to improving the test approach, test coverage, test data, regression coverage, and quality assurance.

Affinity with test automation is important. The functional tester does not need to set up or expand test automation but understands its value and contributes ideas on regression coverage, scenarios suitable for automation, preparing relevant test cases, and collaborating with test automation engineers. Early involvement in the development process is essential (refinement, sprint preparation, planning, review).

The candidate contributes ideas on testability, acceptance criteria, risks, test data, regression impact, and feasibility of testing within the sprint. An important focus area is strengthening shift-left working: making testing an early part of refinement, acceptance criteria, testability, test data, risks, regression impact, and quality agreements. The candidate looks broader than just test cases, has a helicopter view, and contributes ideas on further professionalization of testing and quality assurance.

What they ask

• Minimum of five years of demonstrable work experience in the past seven years as a functional tester, test engineer, software tester, or similar role involving the preparation, execution, and documentation of manual functional tests.
• Demonstrable knowledge of test design techniques, risk-based testing, test data, test coverage, regression impact, and quality risks.

Preferences.

• Experience with regression testing, end-to-end testing, exploratory testing, risk-oriented testing, ad hoc testing, and careful documentation and retesting of findings.
• Experience with functional and manual testing of complex web-based applications, rule-driven software, implementation processes, or similar business applications.
• Experience with analyzing user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria and translating them into test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
• Experience with user acceptance testing, user perspective, and supporting users or business in test preparation and execution with a similar back-office system.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar tooling for backlog management, documentation, test preparation, and defect registration.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and/or SAFe, including refinements, estimations, Definition of Ready/Done, shift-left working, and collaboration with product owners, analysts, developers, test automation engineers, and administrators.
