A government organization has a significant responsibility to identify and prevent risks early, starting from the design phase. A Safety and Health Coordinator is sought to firmly embed safety and health in projects and work processes, and to help set up processes, roles, and systems so that safety is well-regulated both on paper and in practice.
What you do
As a Safety and Health Coordinator, you ensure that safety and health risks within projects are well identified from the design phase and prevented as much as possible. You consider the realization, management, maintenance, and ultimately the demolition.
- Identifies safety and health risks and ensures they are managed within projects
- Guides colleagues and project teams in incorporating safety and health into the design phase
- Advises employees, project teams, and contractors on S&H and the application of laws and regulations
- Monitors cumulative and object risks and ensures they are discussed and addressed in a timely manner
- Prepares or has prepared and evaluates S&H documentation, such as Risk Inventories & Evaluations (RI&E), S&H plans, and S&H files
- Ensures good and complete file management
- Advises on how S&H can be structurally embedded in roles, processes, formats
- Ensures that improvements are actually implemented and applied
- Is the primary point of contact for external parties regarding S&H, embedding, and file management
- Increases safety awareness within the department and the rest of the organization

- HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level and a completed HVK or MVK education
- Demonstrable experience with safety within a public organization and with strengthening a safety culture
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including the Working Conditions Act (Arbowet), Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit), and Working Conditions Regulation (Arbo-regeling)
- Experience with preparing and evaluating RI&E, S&H plans, and S&H files
