Youth Residential Counselor

• Organize (group) activities such as cooking, sports, or creative pursuits.
• If necessary, act as a shadow mentor for complex cases.
• Conduct methodical conversations with the young people.
• Perform room checks and provide information.
• Collaborate with colleagues in morning, afternoon, and night shifts (night shifts are always wake-up shifts).
• Participate in meetings and intervision discussions to ensure quality.

What they ask

• Minimum of a completed MBO level 4 education in an agogic field (e.g., Social Work, Personal begeleider maatschappelijke zorg, Begeleider specifieke doelgroepen, or Pedagogisch medewerker).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of methodical guidance and intercultural communication.
• Empathy without losing professional distance.
• Clear in setting boundaries.
• Resilient, social, collegial, and reliable.
• Availability for day, evening, night, and weekend shifts (night shifts are always wake-up shifts). This is a strict requirement.
• Always work with at least one other colleague.

You will work at a location that accommodates unaccompanied minor foreign nationals. This can be a permanent reception location or an emergency shelter. The size of the reception locations and the number of young people vary. A team typically consists of 15 to 40 employees, including youth workers, residential counselors, and behavioral experts. A pre-employment screening, including a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), diploma, and identity check, is part of the procedure.

This position is offered as an employment contract.
