The digital world is growing rapidly. That is why a government organization is looking for an inventive digital professional who translates digital traces into investigative opportunities. Strengthen our investigation department, increase the digital fitness of the basic team, and creatively apply your expertise.

What you will do.

  • You are connected to a basic team and use your knowledge of various public techniques to support basic street work, investigations, and the (digital) specialists within your district.
  • You are able to find and secure relevant information.
  • You have sufficient knowledge of internet developments such as LLMs, blockchain, social media platforms, OSINT, and can involve police colleagues in this.
  • Your focus is on identifying, collecting, interpreting, and analyzing online information.
  • You also have knowledge of current online media used by our target group or wish to delve into this.
  • On these online media, you try, with smart search strategies for the basic team, to find relevant information and make it available to your colleagues.
  • For this, you use various social media and other internet tools and sources.
  • You link online information and are able to explain these traces and translate them into investigative opportunities.
  • You also know how to record your findings in clear reports or official statements.
  • From a basic team, the digital community officer and digital professionals work together on investigations that require digital expertise.
  • You advise colleagues on how to ask further questions during declarations, so that the correct digital and/or online components emerge.
  • You also investigate and support colleagues with questions about digital traces.
  • You find it important to make your colleagues more digitally skilled and aware that digital sources can help an investigation.
  • You always offer a listening ear and are always ready to support colleagues who call upon you, sometimes also on the street, or in public information situations for citizens.
  • With your digital background, you coach your colleagues in digital detection and advise based on your specialism in investigations within your basic team.
  • Various departments will know where to find you for digital issues.
  • This is an operational function, which means that, if applicable, you are willing to work irregular hours and/or weekends.

Profile

  • You are an initiative-taking colleague who dares to step outside the beaten path.
  • You feel at home in the digital world, investigations, and cybercrime.
  • You look at the digital component within police work with a fresh, innovative perspective.
  • You have what it takes to ask precisely the questions necessary to gather the right digital information, and you dare to be critical where needed.
  • Collaboration comes naturally to you, because together with your direct colleagues, you will further build and shape the digital work area from the heart of basic police care.
  • You know how to naturally convey knowledge to colleagues through presentations and workshops.
  • You also enjoy making your colleagues more digitally skilled and aware that digital sources can help an (investigative) inquiry, using your (online) skills and (cyber)awareness.
  • You possess coaching skills to provide colleagues with new insights.
  • You are also innovative, have an eye for detail, and work carefully, even under time pressure.
  • The digital world changes quickly, but that is not a problem for you. You are curious, eager to learn, and keep your professional knowledge up to date on your own initiative.

What they ask

  • MBO 4 work and thinking level, preferably based on a degree in IT, social media, and/or cybercrime.
  • A BOA diploma (or the willingness to obtain one).
