Food operations manager

A leading foodservice organization is looking for an experienced leader to shape the further integration and professionalization of several important locations. The organization is responsible for the complete food offering at recreation parks, ranging from restaurants and food courts to retail and convenience concepts. The context is dynamic and challenging, characterized by large volumes, pronounced peak moments, and a complex operational and personnel organization.

The organization is currently in a significant transformation phase with the ambition to further professionalize its operations.

What you do

  • Ultimately responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational performance of all hospitality and retail activities, with a clear impact on the broader operations across multiple sites.
  • Translates strategic objectives into concrete action plans and ensures consistent and effective implementation.
  • Focuses on further professionalizing the organization, creating more uniformity in processes, and realizing economies of scale between locations.
  • Contributes to the future retail and hospitality vision and long-term strategy.
  • Critically analyzes existing structures and working methods and drives the optimization of processes, personnel planning, and operational flows.
  • Monitors performance from a data-driven approach and continuously identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and guest experience.
  • Bears ultimate responsibility for financial results, including P&L, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Combines strategic insight with a strong operational feel and translates figures into concrete actions on the shop floor.
  • Guides a broader change context in an environment with historically grown structures, diverse interests, and a strong presence of social partners.
  • Creates support, understands resistance, and gradually involves people in change.
  • Actively builds a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and encourages a more structured, future-oriented way of working.
  • Manages the operational management team and acts as a connecting factor between various stakeholders, including park management, internal departments, and social partners.
  • Reports to the director of the foodservice organization.

Profile

  • Academic level of thinking (preferably master's degree) or equivalent experience and solid professional maturity gained in roles with ultimate responsibility in operationally complex environments.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in challenging change contexts and familiar with social consultation and navigating within organizations with diverse interests and stakeholders.
  • Combines strategic insight with a strong hands-on mentality and experience with process optimization, change projects, and data-driven management.
  • Strong financial insight and familiar with P&L responsibility.
  • Maintains a helicopter view, but is equally capable of diving deep into the organization and making complex issues concrete and workable.
  • People-oriented, coaching, and decisive leader who builds trust and connects people around a common goal.
  • Extensive experience with cultural changes and change management; understands resistance and brings people along in new ways of working.
  • Strong in stakeholder management and moves easily in a context with internal and external interlocutors.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic context with strong fluctuations in workload, where flexibility, agility, and quick switching are essential.
