Project Leader

This organization is an ecological consultancy dedicated to species protection and the development of a nature-inclusive Netherlands.

With over 50 committed colleagues, they work on diverse projects, from ecological research in housing construction to the sustainability of residential areas and the redesign of rural areas. It is an informal, growing organization with short lines of communication, extensive expertise, and room for personal initiative. They believe in collaboration, taking responsibility, and helping each other.

What you do

As a project leader, you will be the linchpin between clients, specialists, and fellow project leaders. You maintain an overview, provide structure, and ensure that projects are well-organized and run smoothly. You manage planning, budget, and quality, while also considering the people performing the work and client expectations.

You will work on diverse ecological projects, such as housing construction projects, the sustainability of residential areas, the redesign of rural areas, and the guidance of permit processes. You do not need to be the ecological content expert yourself. Your strength lies in organizing, connecting, and advancing projects. You understand what a client needs, ask the right questions, and know when to involve a specialist.

You closely monitor agreements, identify bottlenecks in time, and adjust when plans, budgets, or circumstances change. In doing so, you constantly seek a balance between quality, finances, and good collaboration. You also build sustainable client relationships. You think along with clients, maintain contact, and identify opportunities to expand services. Internally, you collaborate closely with colleagues and identify where additional support or knowledge development is needed.

Key activities.

  • Lead ecological projects and manage planning, budget, risks, and quality.
  • Connect clients, specialists, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear agreements and good collaboration.
  • Financially monitor projects, identify bottlenecks in a timely manner, and adjust as necessary.
  • Maintain client relationships, brainstorm solutions, and recognize opportunities for follow-up assignments.
  • Monitor project progress and results, coordinating with the team leader on team developments.

You have a lot of freedom to organize your work independently, but you collaborate with colleagues who understand their profession and are happy to contribute ideas.

You take responsibility, dare to make choices, and remain calm when planning changes or multiple deadlines occur simultaneously. You do not need to be an ecologist or have extensive knowledge of flora and fauna. It is more important that you are curious, enjoy collaborating, and have an interest in the world in which we work.

Profile

  • HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level.
  • 3 years of experience leading or coordinating projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain an overview of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good communication skills and sensitivity to various interests.
  • A proactive attitude: you identify opportunities and bottlenecks and take action.
  • The ability to manage planning, budget, risks, and quality.
  • A customer-oriented approach and enjoyment in building lasting relationships.
