The animal facility of a research center currently employs a team of animal caretakers led by a veterinarian in collaboration with team leaders. A versatile animal caretaker is currently being sought.
What you will do.
- Daily maintenance of a mouse population
- Changing cages
- Water and food control
- Daily maintenance of a frog population
- Feeding animals
- Cleaning aquariums
- Assisting in the washroom
- Emptying, washing, filling, and autoclaving cages and water bottles
- Breeding a mouse population
- Weaning pups
- Sampling for genotyping
- Monitoring the general health of the animals
- Maintaining data in a specific database
- Supporting function of the animal facility
Profile
- No specific diploma requirements, but training in laboratory animal science is a definite asset
- All-round professional with an affinity for the laboratory animal world
- Due to biosecurity reasons, no rodents or rabbits as pets at home
- Fluent in Dutch and English (international working environment)
- Able to work independently, but also in a team
- Sense of accuracy, cleanliness
- Willingness to work routinely and according to established work methods
- Punctual, handy
- Flexible, able to handle unexpected circumstances
