For a department in an urban environment, a foster care counselor is sought with an affinity for working with people with disabilities. You will work with approximately 40 colleagues (counselors, administrative staff, team leaders) to organize a suitable home environment for anyone who cannot live at home or cannot establish a home.
What you will do.
- You will guide children and young people who are (temporarily) living or will live in a foster family, as well as the parents and the foster family.
- You will do this through home visits, counseling sessions, and other contacts with the foster child, foster family, and parents.
- You will support foster parents in their upbringing role.
- You will collaborate with or engage other aid and care providers when necessary.
- You will also support and advise colleagues based on your expertise.
- You will discuss the cases assigned to you in an open and constructive manner and act on the feedback you receive.
- You will also be responsible for accurate reporting and administrative follow-up of these cases.
Profile
- Experience in guiding people with disabilities.
- Good knowledge of Integrated Youth Care, Special Youth Assistance and/or VAPH, and the social map of the region.
- Familiar with aid frameworks, methodologies, and insights relevant to working with families and their members.
- Sensitivity to other cultures and languages.
- Possesses a good dose of common sense, humor, and self-reflection.
- Willingness to work occasionally evenings and Saturdays.
What they ask
- Minimum a short-type higher education diploma in a human sciences field.
- A B driving license and a personal car (or access to shared vehicles).
Preferences.
- Relevant work experience in the social sector (working with children and families is a plus).
