A circular economy requires companies to adhere to regulations. As an inspector, you supervise producers, collectors, and processors of, for example, textiles. You investigate compliance, engage with companies, and contribute to effective supervision. You work on the enforcement of laws and regulations within the circular economy, with an initial focus on textiles. You combine administrative oversight with on-site inspections and are regularly on the road.
What you do
- Supervise compliance with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Decree for Textiles.
- Conduct inspections and administrative controls at producers, importers, collectors, processors, and producer organizations.
- Identify "freeriders" within the supervision: producers and importers who have not yet registered with a producer organization or the government.
- Inform companies about existing and new laws and regulations and explain their obligations.
- Analyze inspection results and signals from the sector, recognize underlying patterns of violations, and translate these into a more effective supervisory approach.
- May be deployed on topics such as the Single Use Plastics directive, packaging regulations, e-waste, or foreign waste tax.
Profile
You work in a professional group with inspectors and specialists. Together, you discuss inspection results, signals from the sector, and the supervisory approach. You sometimes work independently and sometimes with colleagues. Knowledge and experiences are shared to continuously improve the execution of inspections. You collaborate with colleagues from the Environmental Supervision department and other departments within the organization, as well as with other national and local supervisory authorities.
What they ask
- Minimum of a higher professional education (HBO) degree, for example in a technical, chemical, or environment-related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in conducting inspections.
- Demonstrable knowledge of waste policy, laws, and regulations.
- In possession of a B driving license.
- Communication skills: clearly explain complex laws and regulations to companies, both orally and in writing.
- Collaboration: enjoy working within a small, fixed team, sharing findings with colleagues, and contributing to a joint supervisory approach.
- Analytical ability: look beyond individual violations, recognize patterns and developments within a sector, and contribute ideas on how to organize supervision more effectively.
