KNA Archaeologist

North BrabantHybrid32 hours/week6-12months

A government organization is looking for an experienced KNA archaeologist for a versatile municipal practice. You will contribute to research valuable to the city and its residents, from project preparation to recording results for future generations. You will work in an expert and committed archaeological team and collaborate closely with fellow archaeologists and other professionals within the organization.

What you will do.

  • Provide a substantive and practical contribution to the preparation, execution, and elaboration of archaeological research
  • Draft Programs of Requirements and Plans of Approach
  • Prepare archaeological fieldwork
  • Conduct archaeological fieldwork at various locations
  • Independently measure digitally with GPS or RTS (Leica)
  • Process field data in Archeolink
  • Create maps in ArcGIS Pro based on GPS/RTS measurements
  • Elaborate research results into clear archaeological basic reports
  • Ensure correct and sustainable deposition of finds and documentation

  • Experienced archaeologist who values quality and enjoys collaboration
  • Maintains overview, takes initiative, and knows what is needed for successful archaeological research
  • Works accurately, takes responsibility, and switches effortlessly between research, execution
  • Communicates clearly with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders

What they ask

  • Completed education in European archaeology
  • Minimum Senior actor status KNA - archaeologist MA
  • Proficiency in Dutch at minimum C1 level, both oral and written
  • At least one relevant reference from the past 5 years, demonstrating that the candidate has experience with activities comparable in nature and scope to the assignment. The reference must include at least:
  • the name of the organization
  • the name and function of the contact person
  • contact details (phone number and/or email address)

Wishes.

  • Knowledge of and affinity with Urban Archaeology and working on sandy soils
  • Experience with project-based work
  • In possession of a B driving license
  • Experience with GPS/RTS, Archeolink
