The mission is to support research, development, and innovation projects in onshore and offshore wind energy aimed at reducing the total average costs of produced wind energy and contributing to the development of a strong Belgian industrial value chain.
This initiative has led to the establishment of various high-tech testing infrastructures (for example, a large climatic test chamber where wind turbine components (and other derived applications) are tested under rigorous climatic conditions). In addition, various experiments and research projects concerning (maritime) wind farms have been set up to leverage, for instance, field data to optimize the operation and maintenance of the equipment concerned.
The laboratory is looking for an operator-test technician for its climatic chamber.
What you do
Within the climatic test facility, you are responsible for the daily operation of machines and equipment and ensure the following points:
- Optimal execution of test campaigns based on the mastery and operation of the large climatic chamber
- Continuous improvement of the laboratory's potential as well as operational and maintenance activities
- Quality of operations through order, cleanliness, and safety in the laboratory.
You will ensure the piloting and monitoring of the climatic chamber during tests. This mission includes:
- the structural organization of the lab and the layout of the test infrastructure
- the execution of operations and the preparation of reports, in collaboration with your colleagues, from specifications to test campaigns
- the development and assembly of (complex) electromechanical test benches in the climatic test lab
- the organization and execution of loading and unloading of objects to be tested
- the assembly/disassembly of test benches
- the calibration of sensors and test infrastructure (selection, calibration, and connection of sensors to the data acquisition system)
- the analysis and interpretation of test results.
In collaboration with your technician colleague, you will carry out daily maintenance operations on the test lab infrastructure (climatic chamber, test benches, data acquisition, and sensor configuration...).
You will perform certain administrative tasks: stock management, visitor logging, registration, and follow-up of orders.
What they ask
- You hold a diploma in a technical discipline such as electromechanics, electricity, etc.
- You possess a good dose of technical common sense and basic training in electromechanics
- You master data acquisition as well as the use of sensors and instrumentation
- You have a keen sense of risk awareness and are able to manage risks (high voltage, electrical risks BA4-BA5)
- You possess certain CAD skills
- You have sufficient analytical skills to analyze test specifications and client requirements
- You are hands-on and demonstrate great flexibility (the course of a test rarely conforms to the initial planning)
- You are quality-oriented and possess excellent organizational skills
- You are communicative (contact with clients and partners)
- You have good basic knowledge of IT
- You are fluent in English and Dutch (verbally and in writing)
