As a nursing specialist, you are responsible for pre- and post-procedural medical care for elective cardiological interventions, primarily clinical but also outpatient. You work independently in the patient process for medical care and collaboratively in the overall patient process. You make an important contribution to the continuity of the cardiological chain. In addition, research and education are part of your duties. You work within the Cardiology department of an academic medical center.
The Short Stay unit accommodates patients for elective cardiological interventions, ranging from coronary angiography and renal denervation to congenital corrections in Interventional Cardiology. Electrophysiological examinations, ablations, pacemaker placements, and ICD implantations in Electrophysiology also take place here. Furthermore, as a nursing specialist, you independently perform cardioversions.
Work environment. The Thorax Center comprises the departments of Cardiology, Thoracic Surgery, and Pulmonology and has over 800 employees. The Medium Care/High Care Cardiology is a dynamic department where patients are nursed before and after a cardiological intervention or examination. The department provides short-stay and day treatment care and has 14 beds and 6 treatment chairs, all monitored. The Clinical Sector Manager leads the group of nursing specialists.
The group, together with the manager, arranges the duty roster and largely works autonomously.
Profile
- You have a Master Advanced Nursing Practice (MANP) and are registered as a nursing specialist in the BIG register.
- Experience with cardiological patients is a plus.
- Preferably, you have completed the Cardiac Care or Intensive Care specialization.

- Flexible and enthusiastic.
- Clear communication with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and participate in group processes.
- Interest in scientific research.
- Good command of Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.
- Motivated and consciously chooses cardiological care, with the intention of committing for a longer period.
