Within the Intercultural Mediation department of a healthcare organization, you help patients and healthcare providers better understand each other and navigate the healthcare system. You contribute to accessible, warm, and high-quality care for non-Dutch-speaking patients and their relatives.
What you will do.
- Mediate and interpret for patients who speak Portuguese/Spanish or Dari/Pashto.
- Interpret via videoconference or in a triadic conversation and support patients during their care trajectory.
- Help overcome language and cultural barriers and guide patients where necessary.
- Support in conflicts and promote communication and mutual understanding.
- Collaborate with colleagues from Intercultural Mediation and participate in department and language meetings.
- Perform administrative tasks, report to the department head, and contribute to quality intercultural communication.
Profile
- Professional Bachelor's degree in humanities or a paramedical field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in intercultural mediation or a specific recognized training in intercultural mediation in healthcare is a plus.
- Good knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish OR Dari and Pashto.
- Express yourself fluently and clearly in Dutch.
- Experience with MS Windows, Outlook, and Office.
- Quickly learn new systems.
- Ability to assess situations well and respect patient privacy and professional secrecy.
- Work orderly and accurately, be stress-resistant, and handle peak moments flexibly.
- Work quality-oriented and cost-conscious, and take responsibility for your work.
