Privacy Lawyer

You will work at a leading university medical center where data protection, care, research, and education converge. There is room to organize work processes smarter and future-proof. You will contribute to a robust and future-oriented privacy organization. The role is versatile with in-depth content and room for personal initiative.

What you will do.

  • Hands-on advising on privacy policy, frameworks, models, and (processor) agreements in a complex organization with care, research, and education processes. You carefully weigh legal requirements, feasibility, and organizational / administrative consequences.
  • Supporting and conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk processing, such as large-scale data linkages, new care or research applications, and innovative digital solutions.
  • Guiding complex data breaches and security incidents, including incidents involving medical data, large-scale ICT disruptions, or situations with significant impact on patients and employees. You advise on mitigation, reporting obligations, communication, and next steps.
  • Handling data subject requests, such as access, rectification, and erasure requests, even when they are legally and practically complicated due to scope, overlap with other legislation, or data sensitivity.
  • Advising on (international) collaborations, including data exchange with foreign hospitals, universities, research consortia, and commercial parties. You will assess, among other things, international transfers, appropriate safeguards, and contractual agreements.
  • Managing and continuously improving the processing register and visibility of privacy risks, contributing ideas for smarter setup, reports, and tooling.
  • Developing and providing training and awareness activities for various target groups, from healthcare professionals to researchers and administrators.
  • Actively contributing to the deployment of digital tools and AI applications to support privacy processes, such as streamlining and optimizing DPIAs, handling data breaches, or making risks transparent.
  • Contributing to innovation within the privacy / legal domain by continuously improving and innovating work processes, methods, and collaboration.

Profile

You are an analytical and curious privacy professional who combines legal quality with an innovative mindset. Additionally:

  • University (WO) working and thinking level and preferably a relevant certification such as CIPP/E, CIPP/M, and/or CIPP/T.
  • Experience with privacy and data protection, preferably in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrable affinity with digitalization, IT, and the use of tools that support legal and privacy processes.
  • Interested in new technologies such as AI and data analysis and see opportunities to deploy them responsibly within the privacy domain.
  • Able to practically translate laws and regulations into policy, processes, and concrete advice.
  • Enjoys working on projects and feels comfortable in an environment with many stakeholders.
  • Takes initiative, shows courage, and actively seeks collaboration.
  • Team player with good advisory skills and organizational sensitivity.
