HSE Manager
An energy company provides energy solutions to industrial customers, fuel stations, and private individuals. Products range from LPG to renewable fuels such as bio-based energy carriers. The company actively supports its customers in their energy transition. The terminal is the only inland gas terminal in the Netherlands. The company is a medium-sized entity with the power of an international network. In the Netherlands, it operates with a close-knit team of around 40 employees.
What you will do. As an HSE Manager, you ensure that operations run safely, efficiently, and sustainably. You set policies, lead inspections and audits, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations. You will work hand in hand with the Terminal Manager, the Prevention Officer, and the Safety Committee, while being closely connected to the Head of HSSE & Sustainability of the group and the Managing Director of the Dutch and Belgian entity.
- Develop, maintain, and implement corporate HSE policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations across operations.
- Manage and continuously improve the Safety Management System (SMS), integrate applicable quality standards, and translate legislation and norms into practical work instructions and preventive measures.
- Plan and conduct regular HSE inspections and coordinate internal and external audits covering safety, quality, environment, and sustainability (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Lead incident investigations, manage permits and risk assessments, and ensure effective follow-up of corrective and preventive actions.
- Safeguard and enhance processes related to bio-based energy carriers and sustainability goals, including quality control of reporting and ADR/ADNR compliance in transport and logistics.
- Collaborate with the terminal manager, prevention officer, and group HSSE teams, preparing the annual HSEQ report with KPIs, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
What they ask
- Education: A completed degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or a comparable technical or scientific field, ideally complemented by additional HSE expertise.
- Professional Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in HSE or HSSE roles, ideally within industrial, logistics, or energy-related environments.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and legal compliance processes; confident use of Microsoft 365 and related tools.
- Languages: Native level in Dutch and fluency in English are required (both written and spoken); German language skills are an advantage.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel occasionally to the terminal site and to the group headquarters (about 25% of your time).
