Environmental Law Jurist
Your legal expertise enables spatial developments. Housing construction, area development, environmental plans, and spatial initiatives require legal precision. A spatial initiative is only feasible if it is legally sound, administratively defensible, and practically executable. As an Environmental Law Jurist, you help various public organizations to carefully and legally enable spatial developments. You will work on diverse assignments within the physical living environment.
What you will do.
- Advise on environmental law and planning issues within spatial developments
- Legally assess spatial initiatives and projects
- Work on environmental plans, spatial procedures, and implementation frameworks
- Test against the Environmental Act (Omgevingswet), General Administrative Law Act (Awb), and related legislation and regulations within the physical domain
- Advise on housing construction, area development, and developments within the physical living environment
- Assess and respond to views, objections, and legal risks
- Guide objection and appeal procedures where necessary
- Support administrative decision-making
- Translate legal risks into practical courses of action
- Collaborate with urban planners, permit officers, urban designers, project leaders, policy advisors
- Monitor developments in legislation and regulations and translate them into daily practice
Profile
- Strong analytical skills, meticulous
- Able to explain complex legislation and regulations clearly
- Sensitive to legal, administrative, and societal interests
- Able to provide sharp advice and think practically about possibilities
What they ask
- Completed university degree in Law, preferably with a specialization in Administrative Law, Environmental Law, or Constitutional and Administrative Law
- Minimum of several years of relevant experience as a planning jurist, environmental law jurist, spatial planning jurist, legal advisor physical living environment, or comparable role
- Up-to-date knowledge of the Environmental Act (Omgevingswet), General Administrative Law Act (Awb), and related legislation and regulations within the physical domain
- Experience with legal advice regarding spatial developments, environmental plans, or spatial initiatives
- Experience within a public client is a plus
- Experience with permit procedures, objection and appeal, participation, or administrative decision-making is a plus
- Strong written and oral advisory skills
- Administrative sensitivity
